Clinical Study of Imperforate Anus



Abstract
Imperforate anus is a relatively rare congenital disease, occurring one in, 5, 000 live births. The most important problem in the surgical management of this disease is said to be the in completeness of postoperative regaining of the normal anorectal function, that is, not a mere prol-ongation of life but resuming of the normal social life for the lifelong period.
Upto now, the results of various operative interventions seem to be unsatisfactory
We collected 9 cases, which had been admitted and surgically, managed during last 4 years from 1972, in Seoul Red Cross Hospital, including a case of septa] wall reconstruction between the rectum & vagina.
The results were
1. Male to Female ratio was 2
2. No postoperative complications in colostomied patients, mild complications in others, & no , postoperative deaths.
3. In one case, which had< no rectovaginal septum due to large rectovaginal fistula had gained good result with anal skin flap utilization procedure.
